Origin & History:

Developed in Australia in the early 1800s, the Australian Terrier was bred to control vermin and snakes on farms. It is one of the oldest terrier breeds from the continent.

Size & Weight:

A small, sturdy dog, standing 10–11 inches tall and weighing 12–14 pounds.

Appearance & Breed Characteristics:

The Australian Terrier has a harsh, wiry coat in blue and tan, sandy, or red shades. It has a compact, athletic build with erect ears and an alert expression.
