Border Terrier   

Origin & History:

Developed in the border regions of England and Scotland for hunting foxes and small vermin, the Border Terrier is one of the oldest working terriers in the UK.

Size & Weight:

Small breed, standing 10–11 inches tall and weighing 11–16 pounds.

Appearance & Breed Characteristics:

Compact, muscular, with a wiry coat in red, grizzle and tan, blue and tan, or wheaten. They have a keen expression and strong jaw suited for hunting.

Temperament & Personality:

Friendly, affectionate, and spirited, a Border Terrier is good with children and other pets. It is intelligent and adaptable but maintains a hunting instinct.

Exercise & Training Needs:

Daily walks and playtime are essential. Training should be consistent and reward-based to channel energy and intelligence.

Grooming, Shedding & Coat Care:

Low-maintenance wiry coat requiring weekly brushing and occasional hand-stripping. Shedding is minimal.
