Origin & History:

Chow Chows are an ancient breed from China, used for hunting, guarding, and pulling carts. Known for their lion-like mane and blue-black tongue, they have a distinctive and dignified appearance.

Size & Weight:

Medium to large, standing 17–20 inches tall and weighing 45–70 pounds.

Appearance & Breed Characteristics:

Sturdy build with a thick double coat, broad head, small ears, and deep-set eyes. Coat colors include red, black, blue, cinnamon, and cream.

Temperament & Personality:

Independent, aloof, and protective. A Chow Chow is loyal to its family but can be reserved with strangers. Early socialization is essential.

Exercise & Training Needs:

Moderate exercise, including daily walks and supervised play. Training should be firm, consistent, and gentle due to their independent nature.

Grooming, Shedding & Coat Care:

Heavy shedding breed requiring frequent brushing to prevent mats. Baths as needed.
